A full-service agency is looking for a data scientist

This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about advanced digital analytics and adding tangible value to both clients and the agency through innovation in digital marketing and analytics. The role is challenging and allows for growth and development with regards to developing new analytics skills and influencing strategic decisions.

They will work closely with Business Partners, Technology and Strategic Planning to identify client opportunities, track impact, introduce new ways of determining success and build quantitative customer intelligence.


  • Understand client business – what they sell, the pressures, opportunities, trends
  • Understand consumer marketing landscape – channels, usage of, opportunities and developments within for analytics
  • Know how to structure an argument
  • Digital Marketing Analytics (Google Analytics / Adobe Analytics / Google Tag Manager / Google Advertising Network (GDN & GSN) / Facebook Insights / Twitter Analytics / YouTube Analytics / Crimson Hexagon)
  • Data Wrangling and Analysis in software of choice
  • Data Visualisation and Dashboarding (eg. Power BI / Domo / Tableau)
  • Comfortable with analysis techniques to extract insights from raw data sets

Technical Implementation

  • Remain current with the marketing trends and latest analytics tools and techniques
  • Assist in the agency's data infrastructure design, build and maintenance
  • Help drive the agency's data & analytics strategy
  • Design / Trial new analytics / reporting tools and artefacts
  • Measurement framework design and implementation
  • Data collection, manipulation, storage & analysis (digital data sources and other sources)
  • Maintain and enhance existing analytics/reporting tools and artefacts
  • Design and oversee performance dashboards and provide insight at various stages such as planning, mid and post-campaign analyses, optimizations, and strategy recommendations

Collaboration & Team Management

  • Educate agency on uses and benefits of digital data analytics
  • Participate in the development of analytical and creative test designs and execution as well as new analytical tools
  • Inspire the team with data-driven ideas from social listening, site analytics etc

Trusted Advisor

  • Provide recommendations for ways to leverage data for decision making for assigned clients
  • Develop client-ready documents and major presentations
  • Deliver clear, insightful presentations to client

Does legal status mean no criminal records etc or only citizens of South Africa can apply or must have a valid work permit?

It means you need a valid work permit to work in South Africa

South African applicants will be preferred, then candidates with at least South Africa work permits.

I am yet to have any work permit for South Africa. Hopefully i could start the process in case of another vacancy.
