@Amy_Bray initially I thought if something wrong was found with our solution we'd at least be given the courtesy of being able to make the suitable change and resubmit as it was done for some past competitions but that didn't happen... Would appreciate it if we received info on why our solution wasn't selected

It might be because of the requirement that prize winners should be african. Assuming your teammate is american.
