Job Description

You will be responsible for the development of solutions to challenging business problems using data wrangling and data modelling using an array of tools and techniques on large, structured and unstructured data sets to solve problems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform data pre-processing including data manipulation, transformation, normalisation, standardisation, visualisation, and derivation of new variables/features
  • Gather data for use in data science models, ensuring that chosen datasets best reflect the organisations goals
  • Uses creative approaches to feature engineering of transactional information, location information, behaviour-based information, product information, claims information and internal expense information
  • Analyse data, assess data validity and usability using advanced data analytics and mining techniques
  • Review data results to ensure accuracy and communicate results and insights to relevant stakeholders
  • Create data-driven business recommendations using data as a starting point to propose experiments, projects, and products.
  • Code, test and maintain models within the technology architecture using best practices and ensure solutions are executable

Job Requirements

  • Minimum first Degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, software engineering, statistics, actuarial science, data science or a related filed.
  • 1-4 years’ experience as Data Scientist
  • Strong coding with experience in R / Python and SQL essential
  • Machine learning and predictive modelling practical experience required
  • Strong mathematical and statistical skills
  • Solid background in advanced analytical methods
  • Understanding of Big Data technologies
  • Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way.
