std calculation
Data · 4 Feb 2022, 18:07 · edited 6 minutes later · 1

Hello all,

There is a feature called 'std' in the training dataset. It is written in the problem description that:

"The standard deviation, “std”, is calculated for each donation in the range of 950 nm to 1350 nm. The smaller the standard deviation, the more the absorbances for that donation, the more consistency there is between all 60 scans."

Here are my questions:

1) How is the std calculated? I tried to follow the logic in the description but I am not able to replicate the calculation.

2) Why does lower std mean more absorbance?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi

The 60 scans of a donation made one after another on the same finger the result considered stable if all the scan results are the same - means the SDT between the 60 scans is low.

We calculated the SDT of each wavelength and the "std" is the biggest results between all.

lower STD does not mean more absorbance - it means better quality of donation!

Hope it will help
