Sometimes back I used to select my two best solutions, then forget to save my selection. What I would forget is to click the button which then dissapears and the two choices are saved. Normally there are no confirmation message, button just dissapeared and the selection are saved.

For me the feature has been working just well for this and other competition. Could it be that you selected but never saved the selections? Looks like most probable reason.
