How does zindi rank the private leaderboard?

Does zindi:
1- use the submission with the highest accuracy in the public leaderboard to calculate the private leaderboard score.
2- use the submission out of all your submissions which has the best accuracy for the private leaderboard as the final leaderboard score.
If zindi uses option(1), how do I select a submission out of my submissions which is not the best on the public leaderboard but generalizes well?
I think Zindi calculates the Private LB score for all your submissions...then chooses the best of them automatically...
So I think option 2 is more like
