Hi Dara, thanks for bringing this up. Did you download the app from the Lig-Aikuma site or from this drive link?: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10xB6l72WJ7YC4EqtAjtJGdHMAdZcC-QL/view?usp=sharing%5C
I recommend you use the link above to install - this version in the drive link should work on current Android version and severals versions back. Please let me know if it still doesn't work and what version of Android you're using.
If you're downloading all of the source code from the Lig-Aikuma site, make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom of the Downloads page to see the 2021 code update.
I tested it out, I get the same "this is for older Android versions" message, but i'm able to dismiss it and continue/make recordings. Are you able to get it to work after dismissing the message? And what point is it crashing for you? (Please share any relevant details)
Has anyone tried the app? And can share details of what you're seeing / if it's working okay?
The app keeps crashing after the error message, I wish I send the screenshots. It just crashes immediately. I can't even open the app without it crashing.
Hi @Dara_Adepoju and @Mandeebot, thanks for flagging this issue. The Lig-Aikuma app was suggested because it was open source and designed with ASR collection in mind, but you're welcome to use any speech recording app you'd like (even if it's not open source, as long as it's free and you're not paying for any of the features).
Here is another open source app, Simple Voice Recorder: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplemobiletools.voicerecorder
And here is a list of other speech recorder apps (you're not limited to this list, you can use anything that's free and publicly available). You may want to try a few out to see which you like best: https://www.rev.com/blog/best-voice-recorder-apps-for-android
Tip - When figuring out which app you'd like to use, some things you might want to consider are: Do I need the app to work offline and if so, can it work offline? Where does it store the data (do you want to store it to phone or SD card, and then transfer to computer or online storage)?
Please share if you find an app that's suitable for you, thanks.

Same with me @zindi, the app just keeps crashing, I have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice already
@zindi Please in the instructions, it was indicated that some other audio collection apps can be used. Can you give us the list of such apps?
