Good day,
This is coming after a long while(competition ended 4 months ago or so) but we'd just like to clarify things.
As per the leaderboard here on Zindi, my team(C-B) are ranked 4th, but the post made here on LinkedIn recognized us as 3rd.
My team intend to clarify things regarding this. Thank You
@Amy_Bray
@crossentropy @Bisoye Honestly, if there’s another term for the "level of patience" consistently displayed on this platform regarding monetary issues like this, many of us here would undoubtedly qualify for a "Nobel Laureate Award" in patience. Something tangible must be done to address these issues—it’s genuinely frustrating, especially for the young, vibrant, and hardworking participants who dedicate their time, energy, and effort, only to end up with nothing to show for it.
For instance, my teammate Nayal (from India) and I—Team Daffodils—secured 3rd place in another competition organized by the same clients. As the team leader, it’s disheartening to be asked about our prize money and to have to give the same excuse repeatedly. While my teammate, Nayal, is a mature and understanding person, situations like these erode one’s confidence, enthusiasm, and inspiration to keep pushing forward.
Let’s be honest: both the platform and the organizers are far bigger than these prize amounts—especially these smaller ones. If fulfilling such commitments is an issue, projects like these shouldn’t have been initiated in the first place. As much as we all admire the incredible opportunities Zindi is creating for Africa, these unresolved issues are putting the platform’s reputation at risk.
@zindi @Amy_Bray and team, I truly believe we can do better. Cheers !!!
Hey there @MICADEE @crossentropy @Bisoye,
Thanks very much for raising your concerns. We of course agree with your assessment that this is an unacceptable situation, and I hope that you will recognise that this situation is out of the ordinary and an exception to how we normally do things at Zindi. Our users come first at Zindi, and your happiness and satisfaction with the platform is our first priority.
As we have explained via direct communication with all of you, the situation is being resolved. We ask for your patience and understanding while we do so. Further, please be assured that we are taking steps to update our agreements with clients and the way that Zindi operates, to ensure this never happens again.
Thanks for your continued passion and support for Zindi and the work that we do.
Interesting
@bisoye do you guys have a sub that scores more than 0.85? would be interested in finding out how this happened. I personally don't care about being mentioned in that LinkedIn post. but would be good to know that the integrity of the competition itself is intact.
Nah. Our score is exactly how it is on the lb, and that's our best sub.
Thanks for the answer.
