I think some Hackathon should be more based on report based than leaderboard submissions score.
Let everyone get hold of the dataset, find insight and communicate to Zindi. The competition host stakeholders will judge based on the participants that solutions that align with their problem statement.
I know of NFL that does this every year on Kaggle and they always receive a standard solutions.
This particular challenge is not so much interested in reports - you can tell by how EDA, cleaning, feature engineering, etc. have been done & included already in the starter notebook.
The focus here is much more on building the best models to predict youth employment.
Thank you
Hello, Bhalisa! We have included some EDA and data processing as a starting point. But there are still plenty of EDA / pre-processing steps that can be taken!
Good evening! Yes, the objective of this challenge is to build a machine learning model that predicts youth employment. But the top 5 solutions from users residing in South Africa will be invited to a job interview for a role with Predictive Insights. And we are interested in the quality and insights of your solution (for the winner/ the interview).
Thank you for this beautiful piece. To me the fairness comes when the Prize are given to any country resident because it will be a way to reward hard work and Top 5 South African can put in for the job interview. Remember this is an African community where we need to encourage one another and put the prize for South African resident alone will limit a lot of People effort.
Best regards, Nasirudeen.
I understand how you feel.
I think it is still a great learning opportunity. And the insights gained from this could be used to help the greater African community.
