Is there a mirror for downloading Sentinel-2 data?
Help Ā· 2 Oct 2021, 01:14 Ā· 3

Hi,

I ended up doing a classic "rm -rf" and lost a significant chunk of the dataset, especially in S2 domain. I'm trying to re-download the data, however neither the web-browser nor the Colab API is succeeding in downloading the dataset and basically crashing at different time intervals.

Is there a mirror or a different solution to downloading the data again?

Thank you

Hey Nemo,

Can you explain what error you get using the api/client? If the download crashes, the client restarts from where it left.

Hi Hamed,

So wrt to the client, its just halts at a particular download limit - over the past few attempts, this happens usually around 1 to 2 GB out of the entire 56GB. I tried downloading the Sentinel-1 data via the code just to check if there was a lag of sorts, but that downloads perfectly!

Wrt downloading with an internet browser, the same thing happens, except the download speed drops from MBs to 0 at the same 2GB limit. I'm trying all venues from Eastern US coast, but it gets me nowhere.

Nemo, I just tested the S2 download for both train and test data from our website (https://mlhub.earth/data/ref_south_africa_crops_competition_v1) and it works all good. If you are downloading this to local computer make sure there is no space limit. I can't think of any other issue.
