Dear Zindians

Thank you for your patience as we scored the final leaderboard. We are excited to now reveal the final rankings.

As discussed before we have considered all submissions made by each user. All submissions with an infeasible strategy in either the public or private leaderboard have been disqualified and the new rankings are based on strategies that are valid in both the short and long term.

Changes in ranking are largely due to strategies scoring lower on the public leaderboard, equivalent to overfitting in the short term, and ending up infeasible when scored on the private leaderboard, i.e. failing to generalise in the long term.

How can we verify our code to submit to Zindi because the get score is scoring only on the public test data?

You could always download the submission and make a quick script to compare the csvs. If they are the same it is pretty much verified (unless you find yourself in the very unlucky case of two submissions with the same weekly scores that match your final result).

I wanted to ask you, since you have used this site quite more than me, are we expected to submit the report now, within this 48 hour limit, or just both code, instructions and solution, and then, once it is validated, the report?

Question also addressed to @nicolapiovesan, @ZINDI, @meganomaly. The mail seems generic for all competitions, and doesn't clarify this point.

Also this link in the mail does not work: https://zindi.africa/learn/documentation-guideline

In 48 hours, you have to submit the code and documentation as well as csv output then the itu team will mail to you for report

Hi Zindi,

We would like to raise a concern regarding the recently revealed results and request a re-evaluation to ensure that all our submissions were properly considered.

It seems that some of our more recent submissions were not included in the final private leaderboard evaluation. Over the past several days, we submitted conservative solutions that we are confident would be feasible. However, the final leaderboard only reflects the solution we submitted over a month ago, which is notably worse than our recent submissions.

Could you please re-check the submissions we made during the last four days of the competition (from 26th September to 30th September)? To ensure the fairness of the competition, we need confirmation that all our solutions were evaluated.

Additionally, we noticed that several teams, including ours, saw their rankings drop dramatically in the private leaderboard compared to the public leaderboard. We suspect that the private leaderboard evaluation may have been limited to the first 300 submissions, which includes infeasible submissions from earlier public leaderboard rounds. If this is the case, it may not align with the competition rules, as only feasible submissions should count towards the 300 limit. Given this, it’s essential that all submissions, especially those submitted more recently, be evaluated as they are critical to determining the final solution quality.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. @nicolapiovesan, @ZINDI, @meganomaly, maybe you can also opensource the private data to us and let us see the result.

Best regards

I support this. Can you opensource the private data or double check your evaluation script? The private leaderboard doen't make sense to me. My public score is 9480, which seems like using my submissions months ago.

Also, how come everyone's private score is higher than public score? Private period is only 3 days. Public period is 4 days. Any one thinks this is odd too?

I wonder if it's because they just announce optimal combination of public and private result

I assume private period is the full week, i.e 7 days instead of 4. As far as I can tell they only provided results for the best entry. So not all entries with score 0 are infeasible.

I tried to resubmit some old solutions in order to maybe get the private score for those. They will be processed but then show up with the same score for public and private in the leaderboard. So this is buggy.

I have similar situation as huanghh. All submissions visible in my Submission Card have score 0 (no information about unfeasibility). And my score is calculated based on submission uploaded 28 days ago
