Today is your last chance to lock in your predictions for the World Cup 2026 Goal Prediction Challenge.
How's everyone feeling?
Confident in your model? Still tweaking features? Hoping your underdog model makes a deep run? Or have you already submitted version 27 and sworn not to touch it again?
We'd love to hear how your experience has been so far. What's been the biggest challenge: predicting goals, predicting tournament progression, or deciding when to stop iterating and submit?
Good luck to everyone making those final adjustments today. Once submissions close, we're excited to watch the tournament unfold and see whose predictions win gold! 🚀🏆
Hi Megan!!!!
Thanks ... this was fun, I enjoyed it more than I expected. A bit rushed, and without Tuesday being a holiday this would have been neigh impossible, but yeah, was nice.
Everything was a challenge ... I think the WC mechanics, especially how the groups are ranked, was particularly difficult but then, upon implementation, surprisingly easy.
It is nice to be able to simulate the tournament, it would be nice to add a glossy report or animation on top of it, but of course, no time or need for that atm.
Hi @skaak, so glad to hear you enjoyed it! Lucky for the South Africans who had Youth Day on Tuesday 😊
Oooh, an animation is a great idea - we could look at doing that for the top 3. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this challenge plays out, as well as following the tournament itself!
Thank you for this opportunity to learn more about ML.
