Paystack's mission is to accelerate digital payments across Africa. In just over ten years its team has shipped a steady cadence of innovation, from automated recurring payments to direct bank account pay in and automated chargebacks. This role is part of a growing South Africa engineering presence serving the region's best known brands.
The mandate
As a senior full stack engineer you own the delivery and support of robust back end and front end applications that expose Paystack's data and functionality to internal and external users. Applications handling financial information need to manage large data sets performantly while staying highly accurate and reliable. You work with a team of strong engineers to design and build the systems behind some of South Africa's best known brands.
What you will own
- Architect and develop: Design and implement scalable, efficient, reliable solutions across the platform.
- Product innovation: Translate product vision into technical solutions.
- Technical problem solving: Tackle complex challenges in system performance and reliability.
- System integration: Refine the platform architecture for optimisation and seamless integration with other systems.
- Code review and testing: Review specifications and submissions and test thoroughly to hold code quality.
- System support: Work with teams inside and outside engineering to support merchants and customers.
Who we are looking for
- Extensive experience in at least one major language: JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C++, C# or Python
- Worked on large, distributed systems at scale
- Strong with SQL databases
- Writes solid unit and integration tests
- Clear communicator who collaborates well remotely
- Takes real ownership, and cares about building for African businesses
Signals and edge
- Node.js with Express, Sails or Nest React,
- Angular or Vue on the front end
- Redis, MySQL and MongoDB
- Docker and Kubernetes AWS
